In the month in which World Health Day is celebrated, we could not fail to highlight the importance of Radiological Protection to patients, which has been highlighted by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the World Health Organization.

The justification of radiological examinations and the optimization of the dose of these procedures, with monitoring and continuing education for health professionals, constitute three of the 10 actions of the IAEA’s “Bonn Call to Action” initiative, in an international agreement and receiving support from several countries, including Latin America.

The strengthening of the dialogue on Radiological Protection in daily medical practice, which involves a multidisciplinary team (radiologists, referring physicians, medical physicists, the academic community and patient representatives), will be one of the goals of Latin Safe, supported by the Brazilian College of Radiology and other Latin American societies.
