Latin Safe changes president during JPR 2021

Posted on: 2021-09-22

Today, during the first day of the São Paulo Radiological Meeting (JPR) 2021, held in person in São Paulo, the then president, Hilton Leão, MD, transferred the leadership of the initiative to the Colombian Martha Edith Oyuela Mancera, MD.

After a presentation with the main activities carried out in recent years, Dr. Hilton also showed the points he missed. An example mentioned was the failure in communication with other countries in Latin America, which prevented a little from leaving Brazil.

With that, he passed the presidency position to Martha, MD, and highlighted her importance and her achievements, reinforcing her competence in being ahead of Latin Safe.

Martha, MD, is a radiologist, specializing in bioethics and epidemiology. In her class after the change of management, about Pediatrics: Future Strategies for Medical Collaboration, Institutional Organization and Work Project, she presented the main points for incorporating radioprotection protocols.

She reinforces the importance of humanization and ethical responsibility, as well as safety regulations for the patient, such as, for example, the administration of the amount of contrast used. For this, she suggests quality and safe radiology protocols, a basic manual on radioprotection and optimization of doses adapted to Latin American needs – here, strategic alliances with entities from several countries are important.

Welcome, Martha, MD, and good luck!
