New RSNA Dose Exhibit: How Low Can You Go?

Posted on: 2021-06-22

A new Radiological Society of North America – RSNA dose display was released in May (2021) and raises the question of how low the radiation dose can be when dealing with developing and implementing scoliosis protocol in pediatric patients.

The exhibition study used the ALARA principle (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for its ultimate purpose which was to follow up scoliosis radiographs that track the degree of spinal curvature and assess skeletal maturity, both of which can be evaluated at exposures lower than those used in standard dose radiographs.
