Medical monitors, teleradiology, and covid-19: how do they correlate?

Posted on: 2021-03-18

The relationship between medical monitors, teleradiology, and covid-19 boosted Physics Rosangela Jakubiak’s presentation during the SPR Radiological Protection Study Group, held on March 1st.

The class was focused on quality control and divided between:

  • Medical imaging;
  • Report monitors – classification, minimum technical requirements, national legislation, how to structure a customized report, and teleradiology service.

Rosangela presented the contrast visibility scale, showing that sensitivity defines most diagnoses, with the human eye (visual system) limiting this vision. She also pointed out that the scale is the most important feature, since it is not enough that the exam has resolution, it also needs to be calibrated.

Issues such as the meaning of compliance, Covid imaging and control tests were also addressed, after all other diseases have not stopped happening, and the tests help in the diagnosis and monitoring of treatments, even during the pandemic.

Finally, she stressed that it is important to comply with the requirements of the legislation to work safely, even if remotely, and presented the normative instructions for doing so (Brazilian RDC 330/12/2019).
