The objective of the group is to bring together people who support and collaborate around radiological protection, as was the case of one of the participants of this meeting: Rochelle Lykawka, physicist at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. She and other professionals developed a work with action upon justification by the medical physics service in the clinical and surgical specialties.

According to her, a partnership with the hospital radiology team was carried out to optimize patient risk. Some IT actions to improve the justification and request for radiological protection exam were implemented, and the reduction was significant.

Dr. Hilton suggested that she and the group sign up for this great initiative in the ECR 2019 paper panel. He also took the opportunity to collaborate: “There are people in Latin America who want to start a project and they don’t know how. That is why your experience and ideas will inspire and direct.”

The last meeting of the SPR Radiological Protection Study Group in 2018 is scheduled for November 7, 5:30 p.m. (Brasília time). It is possible to participate in person at the SPR headquarters (Av. Paulista, 491, Cj. 41/42, 4th floor) or online.
